You must study, work or reside in the North East, defined as Smooth Radio North East's Transmission area.

Judges will view all entrants and select what words, in their view, made them smile the most. Winning entrant will be required to talk to the presenter on air and the conversation will be recorded and played on-air. If the caller fails to answer a return call from Smooth Radio, is driving at the time of the call and is unable to pull over or cannot continue the call for any reason the call may be terminated and the next best entrant selected based on the aforementioned criteria. Once the winner has been notified, we will ask for the phone number of their partner they will be taking to Paris, and we will also call them on air. The winner will notify their partner that they have won the trip.
