Annual Travel Insurance: medical conditions.

I have pre-exisitng medical conditions and have taken out Annual Travel Insurance. This insurance is now due to be renewed. I have had a holiday booked for some time, it departs a month after the renewal date.
I have now been told that as I am awaiting a medical investigation - the insurance company will not renew my insurance, even to cover my prexisiting conditions only.
This means I now have no cover for this holiday and I have already paid the balance.
It appears that as I have pre-exisitng medical conditions, I would have been better taking out single trip insurance to prevent this situation occurring.

If you don't want to travel uninsured then your current policy (assuming it has not already expired) should let you cancel the trip and make a cancellation claim.

my mother-in-law always found post office insurance good at covering her various ailments.
  • Thanks for your help - I'll look at the post office for my next insurance.

I!!!8217;ve used All Clear and Free Spirit for travel insurance to cover 2 pre existing conditions and they!!!8217;be always been reasonable. It may be worth phoning them to discuss whether the investigation will affect cover.
  • If you are not covered with the current travel insurance, you should be able to get insured with a different company (probably it will be good to check - if it would be a issue because of the current investigation).
