PPI for Injury or Serious Illness Diagnosis

Hi, We have had Insurance to cover my husband for injury at work (and being unable to work as a result) plus Serious illness cover for both of us. We have been paying this for over 10 years and my husband tried to claim while off work waiting back operatiion, but was told the insurance did not cover as it was not selected for own occupation - the Seller of the insurance completed all the forms for us and so we then discovered we were not covered. We took it to the ombudsman but they advised as we signed the forms we had no grounds. Basically the insurance does not cover him, but we have continued to pay for the additional cover that's tied into the insurance. Has anyone had a similar insurance where they have made a PPI claim based on the fact that it never really covered us and therefore was mis-sold? Thank you.

It doesn't sound as if you have PPI.
Are you sure it wasn't Personal Accident and Critical illness, or similar?0
