This is what I was afraid of!!

Ok, so I've finally taken the plunge and have switched phone/broadband and energy suppliers. Already, in a week, I've had numerous phone calls, emails and queries about why I'm changing. I did my research thoroughly (thanks to MSE of course) and really don't want to get into the politics of why I'm changing with the current providers. I think the reasons are quite clear. I want to save myself some money. They haven't been offering me that option so now I'm leaving them. It seems odd but now I'm getting a guilt complex about my decisions! Any advice on how to deal with this would be really helpful and save my fraying nerves every time the phone rings!

Just ignore them. E-mails go into your trash; letters into your recycling bin and don’t answer any calls from unknown callers. If you decide to go back to an old supplier in 6 months time, they will happily welcome you back.

Easy solution: Ignore the calls or just say something like "I'm moving from you because its cheaper elsewhere", then just hang up - you don't have to explain why you're moving, they'll know its almost certainly price related. Don't feel guilty, you don't owe any company any loyalty.

For the likes of the internet and phone line its in your best interests to switch every 12/18 months as that keeps your cost down by jumping on the new customer deals. Energy companies don't/can't do this so you have to monitor the market.

Bella Bella Bella. You don't have to tell them anything about why you are leaving. Did you ask your providers for a cheaper tarriff, or were you just waiting for them to offer a better deal? You have to be pro active and tell them what you want.

Guilt complex because you are exercising your right to take your business elsewhere! Remember, you are the customer, you don't have to shop anywhere you don't want to. They are marketing their product because they don't want you to go. Sales people are like that, always trying to get you to part with your money.

Do as others have said, ignore. If you pick the phone up and they start with the chat, stop them and say, I'm off, goodbye. Don't let them get a word in, as soon as you know it is more pestering, put the phone down. Bin the letters that come in the post, removing your name and address first. Delete unwanted emails. You owe them nothing. Go for it.
