Mouth ulcers

Hi

I'm suffering with a recurring ulcer on the side of my tongue which is very painful. I'm using antiseptic mouthwash and iglu ulcer gel. It clears up for a while then I get it again.

Just wondering if anyone else has suffered with the same thing and any suggestions for relief please?

Thanks

    Go to the dentist.
Any recurrent ulcer or ulcer that doesn!!!8217;t heal , go see your dentist. They are oral medicine specialists.

My dentist thought my recurring mouth ulcer was a blocked pore but it turned out to be a damaged vein from a long forgotten punch in the mouth.
The fix was a lot more painfull than the ulcer but it did work and has not returned.

I had mouth ulcers and on both occasions it was due to a deficiency in B12.
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.
  • Yes, I've also heard that it can be due to a lack of Vitamin B.

You should still go to the dentist, but increasing your intake of B vits wouldn't do any harm.

  • Make appointment at your dentist. In the meantime rinse with warm salt water frequently rather than the numbing preparations - they restrict/stop blood flow and you need the blood to flow for healing.

Sounds weird but I find holding a match head to it numbs the pain.
  • Anbesol, good quality multivitamin and rest.

If it doesn't heal after two weeks, go see your dentist.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
  • I'm not sure how old you are, or whether this might apply, but I'm in peri-menopause and I find I'm getting mouth ulcers that come and go predictably at certain points in my cycle. It might be worth making a note of when you get them to see if it is related to hormones.

Weirdly I am currently in menopause so that could be it! It's disappeared for now but does come back intermittently. Never would have thought it could be related to hormones. Thanks for this,I shall check if it's related.

Same for me, strangely I have my first mouth ulcer for about 15 years and I had my B12 injection a few days ago, may be shortage of other B vitamins though as I had not taken any supplements for ages.

Hope they clear up for everyone soon, nasty painful little devils:eek:
