Housing Association - Joint Tenancy to Single

Hi,

I am separated from my partner and we both wish to transfer our current joint assured periodic tenancy into a sole tenancy.

Having contacted the Housing Association I was informed verbally that there would be no problem in transferring to a Sole tenancy subject to both parties agreeing and that the appropriate forms would be forwarded.

However, having received the paperwork, a Notice to Quit to be completed by one of us and a Application for a Sole Tenancy for the other. I was concerned to note that on The Notice to Quit it is clearly stated that on signing the Notice that i will 'have no legal right to remain there.' and that 'Places for People will decide if they/I should be granted a tenancy of this or any other property.'

Obviously this is a concern for us and I was wondering if anyone had any advice/experience in these matters?

Many thanks,

Neill

It's an easy form of transfer, so unless you think they're pulling a fast one I wouldn't worry.

They could just do an amendment too.

Can I ask why you want to do this?

    Hi,

Well, yes, I was informed that there wouldn't be a problem on the phone. It's just that when you see things in black and white that contradict what was said you get concerned.

I don't think they are pulling a fast one but you never know.

Reason is that we just want things 'tidy', also not impossible that one of us will move abroad so wanted to get things sorted.

Frankly if there are any issues I just won't bother.

    Thx,

    Neill
