Effective bath or sink drain cleaner?

I don't have an actual blockage, but the bath drain is making that glug glug noise when on use. It is normally silent so I think the pipe is getting clogged. I've cleaned the bend so it's not that.
Can anyone recommend a really effective product to clean out the pipework? Not just the bend, the pipework beyond.

Where does the outlet discharge to? Straight into a soil stack or into an outside gulley or hopper?
The fact that it 'glugs' sounds like a gulley or hopper is blocked and bath water builds up to cover the end of the bath outlet pipe.0 -
It can sometimes happen if a long waste run has sagged in the middle; are you able to check the length?0

Caustic sodaChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

The pipe runs the length of the bath to an outside wall, then down approx. 2 metres, then left along a gentle slope another 2 metres to the soil stack.
I realise that getting a rod and plunger/brush up those pipes would be the best option but I'm wondering about an easier, liquid based option first.

Not wishing to disagree - but in my experience, good old-fashioned Caustic Soda is far cheaper and far more effective, e.g. : http://www.wilko.com/kitchen-cleaning-products/caustic-soda-500g/invt/1159440
Available from any decent hardware shop ( anyone have those old Arkwright stores around now ??? )0 -
Yeah I'll second caustic soda, and normally the instructions give different strengths so you can use it regularly at a weaker dose to clean drains and prevent them blocking badly.0
