Help dishwasher leaking from inside

Hi I have a Miele dishwasher and the float switch in the base activated due to a leak. Its model G 656 SC PLUS. I took the right hand side off I have found the cause, I think.
There is this big tank on the right hand side with a solenoid on it half way up. Looking online at the guts of this machine there is a tank called the Water Intake mixer on the right side and its leaking like hell from around the solenoid (Water Control Valve, Y5) at the beginning of a run cycle. This solenoid is half way up the side of the machine.
I took the solenoid off and you are then left with this plastic probe looking part that twists and comes off. I have taken it off and there is a big black rubber o ring which looks ok but is that the cause, if so what do I do?
Can I just put vaseline on it or something else or do I need to replace the probe part or the rubber or what?
It also has another rubber small part, which looks a bit scaled, could it be that? Can I get these individual parts or are they supplied with the tank part?
I dont think it will be easy to get another o ring the same size or are o rings made in standard sizes and so easy to match?
Help please

Putting that make and model in eSpares comes back with 15 pages of spares. There are a couple of O rings listed.

Yes thank you but unfortunately nothing there suitable.0 -
I have a very similar issue on my Miele g1182. Did you find an o ring and did this resolve the issue? New solenoid about £90 and not convinced it will make a difference.
Sorry not a solution for your!0 -
G 656 SC PLUS service manual
some results with parts diagrams.
I also stumbled on https://www.ransomspares.co.uk a while back that also does service diagrams which is very handy when looking forthe right parts(but not Miele dishwashers).0 -
Most size o rings are available off the shelf.
Look on eBay.
You can also get o ring splicing kits to make up non standard o rings
Example

Expensive for a one off though. If you can find a place who specialise in hydraulics or pneumatics etc. they might be willing to make one up.
Having said all that the mating surfaces have to be flat and undamaged for the o ring to work.
Plastic often gets warped by heat.0 -
Try "Simply Bearings Ltd." Will be amazed if they can't supply the exact size O ring you need.0

I just fixed this on mine - it was all gunged up with chalky deposits, because it had been leaking for a while, but the O ring seemed fine and pliable - probably just a little compressed. Although Miele do not make their own O rings and you can undoubtedly buy exactly the right size (as they do) for pennies, a simple fix is to wrap the O ring in a small amount of PTFE tape. I used a single layer of gas fitters' tape which is particularly thick PTFE, but two or three layers of the ordinary plumbers' stuff would work just as well. Don't use too much, or it's too tight to get the solenoid assembly back on. Wrap it with the tape running along the circumference of the ring and then fold both sides into the hole as you go - you'll end up with something that looks just like a polo mint. If it's a tight but pushable fit going back on, you've got it about right. It might not last for ever (or it might!) but it saves a couple of hundred quid getting it fixed professionally and gives a new lease of life to (in my case) a 16 year old dishwasher which has never put a foot wrong before.

Since everything looked ok but it still leaked, in the end I went for using some Fernox LS_X and it worked great. I've used it many times before. Its a leak sealer and jointing compound costing about £5.50 per tube.
Hopefully that helps someone.0
