So sorry for your loss. I lost my beautiful cat, also called Charlie, on new year's day this year. He was a very vocal cat so the house is quiet without him. I personally don't think we "get over" such losses, but we learn to adjust without our loved ones around. The pain you feel at the beginning does lessen over time I think, but the hole in your heart remains x
  • So sorry to hear about your pet charlie. It's always difficult to get over an amazing dog and I do feel your pain. I lost a yellow lab age 15 last year and missing him still pains me every now and then.. :(
  • So sorry to hear of your loss, remember him gladly and try not to dwell in the sadness of him passing, he wouldn't of wanted to see you like that now would he! Take care.

I know how it feels. :( I lost my 18 y/o dachshund and life's never been the same.

Just loads of *hugs* to you Smodlet and everyone else who still feels the pain of losing their pet. It's never easy but I agree with the comments about how you should hold onto the thought that Charlie had a good life with you and wouldn't want you feeling sad and guilty, and that the pain will lessen over time, but you'll never forget and he will always have a place in your heart.

I say this knowing fine well that I will struggle just the same as you when the times comes for me to say goodbye to my old boy too. X

Thank you, mac.d. Please make the most of every moment because you don't realise how precious they are until it is too late. :A
  • I'm so sorry to hear about Charlie, Smodlet. Sending you all my love and thoughts. I also wrote on here recently when my baby boy Sinbad passed away. I understand what you mean about him being 'the one'. The hole in our hearts is still so raw and if feels like a piece is missing in our home - the one that bound us all together.

I know its hard to say think about the good time and how he was there for you in your life, and the joy he brought.

    Sending you hugs xx

Thank you, cottage_retreatist, for your lovely words and for your understanding. I hope Sinbad and Charlie are playing together, fighting over a ball of wool or something. :A
  • The only fault of our fur pets is that they have very short lives and we have do deal with that the moment we take them in our lives. I'm sorry for your loss...no words of comfort would be enough. Been there a couple of times and it's always heartbreaking..
