homeinsurance claim advice please

my contents insurance in a rented property is wiht norwhihc union. last year i had a claim to replace allt he downstairs laminate flooring after my washing machine leaked damaging the kitchen area. norwhiich union appointed a building company to come and assess the damage. they then paid for the work to be done, this included ripping out the old flooring, removing skirting and kicker boards, fitting the new flooring, refitting the skirting and kicker boards and painting the walls. i had them put a join in separating the kitchen form the living room so if i ever needed the floor replaced again the whole lot wouldnt have to be done.

this year i was on holiday and one of my washing machine pipes developed a leak. this water sat on the floor for 3 weeks. so i claimed again. this timne round they wont pay for anything other than the flooriing and fitting it. so i have to pay for someone to remove the old floor. allied carpets who the insurance company appointed to fit the new floor also wont work round/moving my appliances to fit the new floor and wont remove the skirting boards to fit the new flooring under them the way it is at the minute.

i am really disatisfied wiht this, but the insurance company just keep quoting at me that they only replace like for like and therefore are not responsible for costs for removing the old floor. i then told them i wasnt sure that the floor was dry underneath so at first they agreed to send a company out to assess for dryness and dry it out if necessary, then changed there minds and decided that my contents insurance does not cover that.

i dont know what to do now. i dont want the work done shoddily, which is how i feel allied carpets would do it, but they are not giving me much choice about who to get to do it. if i employ someone myslef they will only pay if my quote is cheaper than allied carpets.

any advice?
