Premier House Edgware Excessive Service Charges

Hi All
I am looking to connect with fellow owners that have flats in the Premier House Block in Edgware. We have received a huge service charge demand due to the need of replacing the external cladding of the building and employment of fire marshals in the interim period. This is due to the fire that happened at the Grenfell Tower last year and the increased fire safety requirements across the board. There is scheduled to be a tribunal where the freeholder is looking to recover costs form the leaseholders for these works. The building is under 2 years since completion (it was a office conversion) so I am rather concerned. The fees apportioned to me are close to £16000 extra for the 2018 Calendar year. I am sure this is worrying for many owners in this block..
Please contact me on this forum.
Kind Regards
Raji

This is not the best way to contact those leaseholders. You might strike lucky, but it's a very long shot.
Put a letter through each door.
Or buy the LR Title for each lease and see if the owner's address is elsewhere (eg they rent the flat out) and write to them there.
Or knock on doors - if the flt is let out, the tenant will certainy have an address for either their landlord (the leaseholder) or their letting agent (who could pass on a letter).0 -
...Also, bear in mind that your freeholders and/or their managing agents are equally likely to find this thread (e.g. by googling the name of their property) - so don't discuss any plans or strategy here that you would not want them to know about.
Similarly, be careful about people posting anything defamatory about them.0 -
I am one of the leaseholder in the flats, I felt very upset when I received the letter of regarding the huge building works and soaring service charges.
It's absolutely unfair for innocent leaseholder, hey claimed that was not developer's responsibility, but it's not leaseholders obligation either. So I suppose every of us involved to unite and voice our concerns.0 -
Local paper and local facebook groups would be a good place to connect with other leaseholders.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
