Positive balance

in Credit cards
Hi, I've ended up with a positive balance on my Aqua CC, I asked them to refund me the balance on Thursday but the balance is still sitting on my card as available to spend, does anyone know timescales for this? I thought it would come off my balance straight away and take the standard few days to authorise at my bank

Unless they're refunding by way of BACS Direct Credit (which takes 3 working days from processing), the payment will arrive by the end of the next working day following payment instruction.
Subject to necessary security checks/authorisation I'd expect the payment Wed/Thurs latest if BACS DC, Tues latest if standard FP.
But you could always ask Aqua for a progress update?0 -
Thanks for your reply, I requested the positive balance to be refunded to my debit card on Thursday, checked on Friday and the balance on the CC was still there available to use, called again to check it was being processed and was told weekends won't apply, just find it strange the balance hasn't gone into a pending state where it's still in my account but I can't use it as it's to be refunded to my debit card, maybes I'm just impatient lol0

How did your CC acquire a positive balance?
If it was a refund of some previous purchase, there shouldn't be any problem. If you did a balance transfer from some other card and, accidentally on purpose, you transferred too much hoping to get the excess onto your current account, Aqua might not do it and return the money to the card it come from.
Maybe the case is not so straight-forward and Aqua will have to check out things before they decide what action to take.0 -
I used the card to top up my balance on a betting site, silly to do I know, I won and had the money set to go back to my debit card but instead it went to my CC, reading the terms they can send it back to any card I've used to top up my account0

Obligatory "don't gamble on credit card, especially sub-prime 40% APR one that will cost you a fortune" quote:
You shouldn't be gambling on a credit card, especially a sub-prime card like Aqua that will charge ~40% from time of purchase.
Withdrawals always go back to the card you used. They should withdraw back to your bank, but are under no obligation to do so. They could, if they wanted to, return the money back the source (the casino).
What is likely is that NewDay (Aqua) will want nothing more to do with you as a customer. To be a NewDay (Aqua) customer normally means you have bad credit.... if anyone shouldn't be gambling, it's people who cannot afford it (Aqua customers!) - I'd imagine they will seek to cut you off of credit.0
