Property hotspot going no-where (Margate/Ramsgate)

Just would like any thoughts/opinions on Thanet particulary Margate which has been cited a property hotspot for the past couple of years.

I can't see much sign of anything changes.

There is 'supposed' to be a fast trainlink but all up in the air and not actually confirmed by the government yet and even when it is, it only reduces train times to London to about 1hr 30minutes. Still quite a long commute daily.

The Turner Gallery which was supposed to transform the area is already about 5 years behind schedule and they haven't even agreed on a building design yet so thats at least another 5 years away.

Dreamland theme park closed down a year and half ago and remains boarded up. Plans to regenerate but no-one taking responsibility so thats going to be at least 7 years away.

Most of the sea-front is boarded up and attracts chavs and trouble makers.

The high street is boarded up apart from a few shops (Primark/Woolworths - says it all) as everything has moved to the local out of town shopping centre, 3 miles away.

There are no leisure facilities and they've just closed down the cinema.

Mmm, property hotspot, I think not!!!!!!!

Good evening: First moved here almost 12 years ago from overseas....tremendous rise in property prices in that time and lots of new developments but the ship of opportunity is out to sea at the moment...many people have been caught out i.e. paying well over the odds for derelict property in seedy locations especially the BTL brigade....need to play the long game on this one I'm afraid.
