    Looks like it's only happening when from some devices. This is from a pc and works fine.

    I've not read every post but put this another way, you have written prove the boiler has stopped working for not being used for a length of time.

    Sellers have not lived in the property for a period of time, so there is a very high chance they were unaware the boiler wasn't working.

    When it gets to court, and you have a piece of paper the sellers signed truthfully saying the boiler was in working order, and a gas engineer saying it broke due to not being used for a period of time....then the sellers aren't really at fault.

    You've essentially proven they had no knowledge of it being broken.
    People don't know what they want until you show them.

    Also if the problem is what happened when it was turned back on then probably strictly speaking it broke at the point you tried to turn it on and it choked on the silt / limescale that had built up, so technically the breakdown may well have happened after you became the owner.
