Leaving car engine running

I don't think so. It was only a bread-and-butter Mondeo. I used to leave the A/C on auto, so it ran 24/7/52 as it was designed to.
Whether it was doing anything or not, it was brilliant at demisting the screen. It's something you don't really appreciate until you don't have it. My current Land Rover is still misted up after 20 milesNo A/C plus leaky door seals.
However, some cars just have good ventilation systems. I use just 2 settings on my Merc, demist and auto and it just gets it right. I also always spend some time pointing vents in the right direction when I get a car and sulkily put them back after passengers have had the temerity to fiddle with them.
Modern cars are so much better than the days where it needed muscles to slide the air direction adjuster and the fan had 2 settings, off and deafening asthmatic.0 -
Its common where I live for some to run engines on frosty mornings for up to three quarters of an hour. Scraping frost and ice from windows seems to be a lost practice.0

Once I had changed the soggy pollen filter, the interior was always dry and sweet-smelling, and I put that down to running the A/C full-time.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
My 17 plate Tucson CRDi has a "Front Demist" which gives a blast of warm, dry air from cold start, with Aircon light on. Must be some kind of electrical heating, but it does clear the screen in quick time.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

2 different bits of legislation, the one you have quoted is emissions/pollution.
There is one under motoring legislation, "The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, " commonly known as "quitting the vehicle", (same as leaving headlights on whilst parked up), "Leaving motor vehicles unattended"
Also see Rule 123 of the Highway Code.

You are indeed. 3 points and a fine.0 -
