Opening FlexDirect while on a gap year?

Hi,
my son is taking a gap year and is working on several projects from home. He has no income but has savings.
He has 3 X BOS bank accounts which will need 6 dd once the Tesco dd is stopped. It makes sense to open a Nationwide current account and do a recommend a friend switch.
Naturally a FlexDirect would be best because of the interest of 5%.
What are his chances of getting accepted for a FlexDirect without any income other than interest on savings and Ebay sales?
