Any hole that you can get a the shaft of a ball point pen through a mouse will get through.0

Check the loft for droppings, if you find any then you MUST put down poison, this will be carried back to the nest(s) and eventually wipeout the infestation.
Many house fires are started by rodents chewing through cables and if you know about the rodents and don't do anything about it then no insurer will pay up. As your tenant has complained it's on record now so I would do something immediately.
In cold weather rodents seek warmth and will find a way in to your loft.0 -
I've had similar issues with a mouse, I can hear scratching sounds behind my bedside drawer and sometimes briefly see something with a tail running, but can't see anything being chewed or any droppings anywhere.0
