  • No they said on the 18th March 20, we could freeze our membership for free FOR AS LONG AS WE LIKE. now they are saying we have to start paying fully on the 1st September, and if we still want to freeze it we have to pay them 25% of our fee. So they have changed the rules to suit them I think. I am over 70 and not keen on going to public places I have not been in a shop now for nearly 4months

    You need to look at your contract.  If they're in breach of it you can do something.  If not, then what format was that "freeze as long as you like" offer made in?  If it constitutes a formal offer that you accepted, there may be a way of challenging the subsequently changed offer.

    You "not being keen" to go has nothing to do with it.  It's the contractual situation that counts, and whether the March offer constituted a new contract.

    It might be simpler to just cancel.  What's the notice period?  The threat of cancellation might elicit a different stance.
