Buying ASX listed shares in the UK?

I've recently started to [STRIKE]gamble[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]dabble[/STRIKE] invest very wisely in overseas stocks. Flippancy aside, I'm in the fortunate position of being able to fully fund the annual SIPP and ISA allowances in a sensible fashion whilst having a little left over for more for more speculative investments in the fashion of "I can afford to lose it but this one might fly".
Degiro has proved useful for US and Canada stocks but they do not cover the Australian Stock Exchange and there's one particular ASX stock that I'm after.
I have money with Charles Stanley Direct and have established that they can offer the facility but their fees are prohibitive for the levels of investment that I'm looking at (about £2k initially per stock).
I've looked at Interactive Investor as TD Direct offered the same so I guess that II might still, following the takeover. I'm put off by the trouble that I've had in trying to open an account and the absence of customer service.
So: Any recommendations for UK brokers or platforms that cover the Australian market with viable fees?

Interactive Brokers seem to handle them. Haven't studied the fees model.0
