Hi guys, I have E7 and a single display meter. I have rate 1 and rate 2.

Which is night and which is day? I may well call the supplier. At night I have all the heavy stuff on which is underfloor heating etc..

Thanks!

  • Hi m0bov

Taking from experience with Economy 10 the rate with the small number 1 is the day rate and the rate with the small number 2 is the low/offpeak/night rate.

With our Economy 10 meter 1 was the peak rate and it had 4 as the off peak.

Probably rate 1 is day but to be sure see which rate defaults to show when you view the meter in the day time.
In my area in South Yorks it can be either , but the day rate will show at all times in the 14 hrs day period be it rate 1 or rate 2

Ok ta all, I spoke with my currently supplier they said the same thing. When I get home I might stick the kettle on and see which rate increases!

On our E7 meter, the display rotates through 1,2, a total for those two figures, and a display page which presumably shows everything the meter could be programmed to display. My idea is that the number, ie 1 or 2 which is blinking, is the one currently in use. Incidentally, I guess it would be hard to actually use more electric overnight constantly, so that should be a smaller figure.

By 'night'; do you mean evening, or night? E7 cheap rate hours are normally midnight to 7am, or 1am to 8am. If you are running UFH in the evening then it will be hugely costly on E7 peak rate.
If so, you need to switch to a single rate tariff. E7 is mostly used for NSH's and an immersion heater.
