PIP reassessment.

Options
Hi all,

I wanted to thank everyone here, particularly poppy for all of your advice during my recent PIP claim. I'm almost certain I would not have been successful had it not been for your advice.

Now while I was awarded for 2 years they have advised I will be reassessed in September (just 9 months after my initial decision).

How will this work? Will I have to go through the same process, collecting evidence going to assessments etc? Any tips and advice?

Thank you to all you lovely people.

a family member has just had the renewal process. you get the form a year before end of claim and it asks if you are better, the same or worse and asked to provide information for each of the areas. Most likely it will be another Face to face... she got this 2.5 months after the form was due back. its been 3 weeks since assessment so not sure where they stand atm.

my advice is collect evidence now so your fully prepared so its not stressful... its a smaller form but the more you put on the better they can go on. Good luck x

    No problem at all, anytime.

Yes, they do reviews 1 year before the award is due to end. It will be a muiltiple choice based form and much shorter than the PIP2 form you originally filled out. I would advice that you still write down as much info as possible, even thought the form is much shorter. If there's any changes this is the time to tell them. If you've got worse then tell them why and when. If you stayed the same just tick that box and write a little info in the box provded. Use extra paper if needed.

Evidence, yes that will be needed too. They do state that the evidence you sent the first is not needed. I completely ignored that part when i had my review and still sent it. I also sent extra evidence, i would advice you to do the same if at all possible.

Most people have another assessment unfortunately as it's rare even at review to have a paper based decision. The assessment will be exactly the same as the first time. Of course answer those questions with as much detail as possible. I found my 2nd assessment a lot easier and very quick. I was only in the room 10 minutes. She didn't go through all the descriptors that time. The only questions i was asked were about my mobility because i reported it had become worse.

It's still as stressful and always will be. Just start to gather that evidence now, then when the time does come you're prepared. You still have several months yet but it's never too early to start with the evidence.

Good luck when the time does come and if you need more advice then please just ask.

This isn!!!8217;t quite true, this is what I expected to happen but as my award was for less than 3 years I got a normal form with all the questions on it again and basically had to start from scratch.

Am i right in saying that you had to go to Tribunal for that award? Those that go to Tribunal are given an end date and this could be the reason why you had to start from the begining.

Those that dont go to Tribunal have a review date and are reviewed 1 year before their award ends. My daughters award is for 2 years with review at 1 year, so just because your award was less than 3 years doesn't mean there's no review a year before.
