                    Please can anyone advise.
We were due to fly out to South Africa as a family on Wednesday evening.
On Wednesday morning I had to take my daughter for an urgent GP appointment and it transpired that she had a chest infection and an ear infection and GP advised us not to travel.
When we called the booking agent they advised us that we had less than 30 mins to make the decision whether to change the flights otherwise they would fall through with it being almost 6 hrs till the flight.
We therefore agreed to rebook them for a week later at an additional cost of £825  for the family
Does anyone now know where we stand with regards to claiming on our travel insurance???
I don't want to fork out for GP certificates etc. if the whole claim is refused. The original flights costs us approx £2,000 plus the extra expense of rebooking for £825. Can we claim the cost of rebooking?
Any advice would be much appreciated :A

If you can get a certificate/letter from the GP that your daughter was unfit to travel, and the insurance company accept this as a reason not to travel then yes, you should be able to claim the additional costs of rebooking (less any excess) - that's the whole point of travel insurance.
However the only people who can answer this for definite are your travel insurer. Phone them and explain the situation and they should start the ball rolling for your claim - at which point you can go to the doctor and ask for the required documentation.0

            Thank you bagand96.
When I spoke to the insurance company I just got through to a centralised admin team that deals with sending out claim forms for various insurers and they couldn't answer any questions or advise on anything - they just said to make a claim, provide all the backing evidence and hope for the best!0

£25 for a letter and possibly get £825 in return - go for it !Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
