And commonly used for dermatitis as well as for their anti inflammatory properties. Used a lot for frozen shoulders and the such. They aren't really such a big deal as Mathew is making them out to be.0 -

Oral steroids are the last resort for my condition, rarely used, because they can accumulate to cause kidney and liver damage, less ability to fight infection or cancers. They aren't given lightly
Also I find investing as a hobby, and finding efficiency in everything I do is a challengeThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Steroids are not the only drugs that effect the liver, many of us have to take drugs that have side effects, the liver being hammered is par the course for many drugs
Mathew, you are on steroids , it's not the end of the world, you aren't a special case. Get over it0 -
I've had to make adjustments, slip on shoes, zips or pull on/off clothes, automatic car These things are for me to change, not up to an employer
I have enough medication to take to fill a pharmacy. Some days I feel like carp and can do nothing then sleep. I use my days off to rest as much as I can so I can do a full shift at full capability. My ( or any) employer is not going to pay for slackers. It's not for nothing that this job I do now I was only taken on for 4 weeks holiday cover (as I was honest about my capability),that I'm now a permanent member of staff
So yes I do believe that I'm a valued member of staff and that this and past employers have been very accomadating

Suki - im not claiming to be a special case, I just want to be taken seriously, people often think the condition is nothing because a lot of people never get it that bad or manage to cure it easierThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. So you have dermatitis, you!!!8217;re probably on prednisolone? Known in the transplant world as smarties, yeah they have side effects but you!!!8217;re side effect will never be graft-host disease and your organ will never be rejected so you!!!8217;re going to be alright. You do know that the slip inside the box has to list every possible side effect even if it won!!!8217;t effect every patient taking them, it even has to list the effect if it!!!8217;s reported by one patient which is how you get crackers like !!!8220;causes weight loss and weight gain!!!8221;.
So the side effects say liver problems, that!!!8217;s not going to be liver problems in someone with a skin condition, that!!!8217;s for the people who are serious ill with massive systemic illnesses taking the same drug for other issues.
Now I!!!8217;m sure your skin condition isn!!!8217;t pleasant but you could try managing it better by eating quality foods, exposing your skin to the sun a bit more (or asking for UV therapy if appropriate), getting allergy tested if that!!!8217;s not been tried already, using prescription creams, cotton gloves under your rubber gloves at work and all the other things that the nurses do when they get occupational dermatitis from having to constantly wash their hands and not having time to dry them properly.
What you shouldn!!!8217;t do is pop into a message board and belittle people with life threatening systemic illnesses with your weird questions.0 -
Actually cyclosporine, as that's better long term than pred. I'm not belittling anybody. I am already doing all you suggest but appreciate the suggestions anyway. UV phototherapy failed. If it was contact with chemicals at work it wouldn't be down below as wellThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
