Dublin Hotels, places to stay?

Hi, I am thinking of booking flights with Ryanair today to go to Dublin for a couple/few days early next year. Does anyone have any advice on where is best to stay in the city centre and an average price?
Also what are prices like going out (attractions, restaurants, pubs etc) once over there? As I dont want to book cheap flights and then end up spending an absolute fortune once there.
Many thanks in advance,
Janine

Hi,
I used to live in dublin ('01-03). I can tell you it isn't that cheap.
For a free pint of guiness, do the tour of the guiness brewery (st james D8) and you get a comp pint of guiness in the highest bar in the city at the end of the tour - great views.
At night time avoid temple bar & o'connell street, particularly on friday & saturday nights.
For better drinking & eating look to places south of the river (eg even numbers on the postcode eg D2, D4 etc, used to say on the street sign).
Bang cafe is great & not to expensive (just off stephens green) & you will need to book.
Rolys bistro in Ballsbridge (D4) also comes highly recommended, again you'll need to book well in advance.
Also try the Elephant for breakfast or lunch (its in temple bar near the main square)
Great pub is O'daids just off grafton st, next to Berry Brothers & Rudd near The westbury hotel. It's small but a locals pub & very welcoming.
Hope this has got you started.
