Flow MSM & MSE Exclusive Fixed March 2018 Ending
Flow have just written to me advising the end of the fix.
They say that the tariff will automatically transfer to their lowest tariff. Is this now typical of suppliers , rather than reverting to their standard tariff?
Secondly the tariff referred to is Daffodil 19 and is an unpublished tariff. I am used to unpublished tariffs in the commercial/business world but not come across them in the domestic market.
I will be doing my sums and looking on the comparative sites.

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Being transferred at the end of a fixed tariff to a new fixed tariff is becoming more common. It is allowed AS LONG AS the new tariff does not have exit fees.
The reason is so that company's do not need a Standard Variable Tariff (SVT) on which the Government has threatened to put a price cap. So the energy companies are trying to get around proposed price control legislation aimed at SVT.0 -

Thankyou gsminx
I always thought the Standard tariff at the end of a fix was a bad move by the suppliers, in that the customer was tempted to look elsewhere. Why not having got a customer try to keep them !Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Yep, I'm surprised it took a threat of the big hand of the law to do this. As you say it is cheaper to try to retain customers than just churn them.
But I would still check the market as some suppliers do offer really bad "no exit fees" tariffs, just slightly cheaper than their SVT is.0 -
An aprox £60 pa increase for me on this tariff . But no exit fees .0

Got an email also about going on the Exclusive Flow Daffodil 2019 from the Flow MSM & MSE Exclusive Fixed March 2018 at approx £26 pa increase and no exit fees, very tempting.0

I have looked into going on the Exclusive Flow Daffodil 2019 tarriff and when I put my yearly readings in, I have found some other companies that are about £40 per year cheaper/year!0

Yes but that's an estimate not a true figure .0

Never trust a supplier!!!8217;s estimated usage. Do your own calculation. I would always do a full market comparison irrespective of what is offered by a supplier. Exit fees are no longer an issue as some suppliers are happy to apply a credit if you transfer to them.
Sadly, in the interests of greater innovation and competition, Ofgem is making it more difficult to compare deals than was the case a year ago. For example, the annual cost of a tariff shown on MSE CEC now includes any cashback. Conversely, the cost of a tariff on a supplier!!!8217;s website doesn!!!8217;t include any family/friends referral fee that might be available. The advantage of staying with a supplier that you know is that absolutely nothing could ever go wrong (if only)!!0 -
I assume that as Daffodil 2019 is not on the open market it will not appear in the MSE CEC list so we will have to do our own calculations to compare prices.0

This is correct.
The message you got from Flow explains that it is an existing customer offer only.
I did some calcs and it works out about an extra £47 per year based on my consumption.
Your annual consumption can be found on your statement so you can easily work out your new costs.0
