While there are individual holidays that may be cheaper booked via a holiday property bond, the bond is only a good purchase if you can consistently get discounts on holidays sufficient to justify the upfront cost and loss of flexibility. The aggregate of comments from people who have HPBs suggests that on average it costs the same or less to book direct.
From the members that we have spoken to whilst at HPB locations none of them have said "that the bond is only a good purchase if you can consistently get discounts on holidays sufficient to justify the upfront cost and loss of flexibility".
More typical comments are "for the quality of what you get you will struggle to find a better deal".
Some are on islands, some are on mainland Europe and within UK.
I was responding to the previous posters reference to "booking direct", pointing out that what he perceived to be an advantage was offered by HPB.0 -

I would question whether they are looking that hard, given that if they found better deals elsewhere and stopped booking holidays through their Holiday Property Bond, they'd have to come to terms with the fact they'd wasted whatever they put into the bond minus whatever they got out.
Each to their own but I don't see what the attraction is. You give them a load of money. You can then get cheaper holidays, but the possibility of getting cheaper holidays seems to be entirely down to the company charging less than you could find for yourself elsewhere. And you can sell the bond, but what you get out of the bond is, again, entirely down to HPB Assurance.
It's described as an "investment product" and "a life assurance bond linked to a portfolio of quality holiday properties and securities". And yet people who've bought this "investment product" and "portfolio of quality holiday properties" seem to keep saying "don't look at it as an investment". I don't get it.
When someone comes here asking "is it a good investment" there seems to be two types of answers: 1) "No" 2) "It's a good way to book quality holidays, but you shouldn't look at it as an investment" and since the OP is looking at it as an investment, that's another way of saying "No".0 -

As a parent in possession of a holiday villa, my now grown and working sons are aggrieved they now have to pay for their flights. But I still seem to buy all the food lol.
Once in a while we might get a round of drinks or a lunch out of them
Better yet, I pay to put them on the rental car so they can drive us about lol.0
