eBay will begin intermediating payments on its Mar

Will this make it easier for S75 claims and chargebacks? You paid ebay directly not through Paypal?
Or will it be the same?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
But you will still not be paying the seller directly and this seems the issue with S75 claims.0

I've not seen the full details and I doubt they know them yet. From what I can gather the payment will be made to Ebay, that payment system will be handled by Adyen on behalf of Ebay. As it is now we (technically) pay Paypal who then pay Ebay on our behalf, this is designed to cut out that middle step. If that is the case then S75 would be valid and it would be Ebay covering it.But you will still not be paying the seller directly and this seems the issue with S75 claims.
My guess is that they'll be working it along the lines of Amazon's AtoZ guarantee scheme, which may well end up with some more unhappy sellers..0 -
Knowing eBay I'm sure everything will be smooth and seamless and nothing will go wrong.0

I have to admit I didn't have a scooby what it meant so I just ignored it.0

I use Paypal in place of a business account. Transferring profits directly to my own bank account and using PayPal account to pay for business purchases. I wonder how many other people use it the same way.
]lso I hope this new payment service will be instant. Rather than transferring your money once a week or so. That could cause cash flow problems.
Aparently it will take 3-4 days for the payment to transfer. I think you can choose how often you want payment
Also, I understand that the whole amount will be transferred so what happens with refunds for returns ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Sounds like it will just mirror Amazon payments. The refunds get knocked off as you go, there's no control of withdrawals. It also takes 3-4 days to get funds.charlies_mum wrote: »Aparently it will take 3-4 days for the payment to transfer. I think you can choose how often you want payment

Payments intermediation will bring significant benefits for eBay sellers. You can expect a simplified pricing structure, more predictable access to funds, and most sellers can expect their costs of payments processing to be reduced. We!!!8217;re also working on ways to provide sellers a central place to track and manage their business, which can soon include payments information.
Sounds like a good way for them to stop us sellers from offering alternative payment options that require buyers to contact you by phone or in person. No more payment by card over the phone for one. The variations between different payment methods are going to play havok with our prices, and I'm guessing as they're all through eBay they all come with the option for the buyer to snatch the money back if you don't have proof of delivery. No more bank transfer payments for people arranging their own couriers if that's the case! Take a look at this:

3.95% for American Express and Discover cards!
I don't like it, I would prefer less involvement of eBay in our payments, not more!Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:0 -

The way it reads I suspect this will just be like paypal currently is, with other options possible, but more integrated. The US forums I use seem almost excited about it as they are looking at it to be cheaper than paypal currently is.
As for chargebacks, any payment method apart from cash or bank transfer is going to be subject to that, it's UK law so it shouldn't be any different to paypal. Likewise, it shouldn't make any difference to sellers wanting to offer cash on collection- it's near impossible already to do that with the new rules about contacting people, and I can't see it changing. As for allowing buyers to arrange their own couriers- do any sellers really risk this much anymore?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Still lots of chat on other forums about this. On a US forum they are still suggesting that their advertised fees overall will be cheaper, let see hope they are right and it applies on eBay UK as well. There are years left though before we see any sign of changes, and as this is eBay I suspect what they are planning now won't be what we actually end up with.
It does look like PayPal have seen a bit of an effect though due to the announcement
