Can anyone help me with this baffling situation

I have been leasing a car with the same company for around 13 years. A few days ago their vehicle was stolen so after calling the police and insurers I called them. This is where the problems started.

I rang a number I had saved on my phone and they answered with the name of leasing company. After explaining my situation they said they had no idea what I was talking about, they don't hire cars and know nothing about it. Ok...so I went onto the website of the company and it's virtually gone. It used to be a big site with pages full of prices and cars. Now it's just a single page saying "Lease a car from us" with a contact form and a number.

I rang that number and again had the phone answered by them saying the name of the company and yet again they don't know what I'm talking about and they don't lease cars out. I filled in the form 3 times and have had no reply. I emailed them twice from the old email address I used to have. No reply.

I just cannot get through to ANYONE that knows who owns this car or what has happened to the leasing company. This is a huge international company with offices all over the globe and yet every number I call I'm met with people just not knowing anything about a car I have leased from them!

My insurers contacted them and they've had the same problem. I did FINALLY get through to one department that knew what I meant, confirmed the theft and knew what I was talking about! I made sure to get their number but after calling them back it's just dead. The phone rings and rings but there's no answer.

I went onto the barely functioning website and tried the Live Chat feature. They said they were very sorry for all the trouble and they'd ask someone to call me back urgently to help within 24 hours. Nothing.

I am totally lost as to what the hell I am supposed to do. My only real concern is the direct debits. Ironically I had a text from my bank as I was on the phone to the police saying a payment had been made!

I have no idea who the car belongs to, who this mystery company is or why after over 10 years of being a customer they have just vanished.

I suppose they may just write to me, refund any direct debits after the claim is settled etc. but have you ever heard anything like this? It's like I'm going mad and I just imagined I've been leasing cars from them for years.

Please can anyone advise what I can do other than just wait and hope it all works out?

Who is the company for starters? What is the company name and contact information on any paperwork/emails you have had from them? Is the legal entity slightly different or similar to another firm?
