We have tried charge back but no luck. He is refusing to accept recorder Royal Mail deliveries. Spent the day calling DVLA, Autotrader, CAB, fraud squad etc.

She had agreed with me to have RAC check before purchasing anything but for whatever reason didn't do so. I am really cross that she didn't but she didn't and now we are trying to clear up the mess.

You don't need to send recorded, he can just refuse to sign and it won't be delivered, as you've found. Just send first class and get proof of posting from Post Office. It will be deemed delivered on the second business day. it will then be up to him to prove to a court it was not, which is very difficult if he's not reported issues to the Royal Mail before.

An independent inspection wouldn't have necessarily discovered a gearbox fault. Tey are mostly visual inspections, there's loads of potential things that wouldn't necessarily be obvious on an inspection.

None the less op isn't expected to be an expert on cars, hence why consumers have rights. It's not as common as people are making out to take cars for independent inspections. I've worked for independent dealers and been a dealer and can't remember a single occasion somebody actually did this.

If he's not responding to letters and the bank are not assisting then time to visit them in person and make your presence known. Unless you want to roll over to significantly sum of money you need to get proactive with it.

Why though did the bank refuse?

if its a golf dsg then there is a very common problem with the dsg boxes, but most of the time its the actual mecatronix unit the goes on them its about a £1000 job parts and labour with an dsg oil change

we have done a few now, seen them fail at 40,000 and seen others goes at 100k+ the latest was a skoda octavia taxi with 180,000k on the clock, its the pushrods that fail on most early ones, but there is also a cluch pack which has several friction plates in the gearbox if they go then the cost will increase but not that common as the unit itself
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”
