    They were listed separately on annual mortgage statement i.e:

    Mortgage £xxx
    PPI £xx

    Think payment was a combined one though.

    That is almost certainly why they need joint authorisation. Its built into the joint mortgage. Most MPPI is paid standalone by direct debit. Not built into the mortgage. So, a single person covered on the MPPI paid from a current account (whether joint or sole) doesnt matter if only one person complains (as long as it is the person covered). That's a standalone plan in much the way your car insurance may be.

    Yours is a policy built into the joint mortgage under a joint plan (even if the cover was selected as 100%/0% split)

    Thanks for getting back to me again.

    Would I be eligible to claim from 1994 when the mortgage was in my sole name? Even if it means submitting a new claim?

    No. Its a missale complaint. i.e. point of sale.
