Bulgaria travel

I am going to bulgaria for a week is it better to use my visa debit card and pay in levs or change money over there and pay cash.
Getting cash out a hole in the wall yes or no.
Any other help would be great.

Depends what your VISA card charges. With a decent card (pref no exchange rate markup) it'll be best to use that at ATMs and paying for stuff.

I don't have a clue who you bank with, so how would I know how much overseas withdrawals are going to cost you?

Not a good card. I've got one of them, never use it abroad as IIRC there is an exchange rate markup plus an ATM fee. Consider getting a good travel card https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/travel-credit-cards
