Has anyone else encountered this, and knows how to resolve it?
My PC has two login accounts ... myself and my wife. My account has admin rights, hers doesn't.
If I am logged in and shutdown the PC, on next start up we end up at the login screen, my account is default selected but hers is also available to click so she can login.
If she is logged in and shuts down the PC, at next start up we end up at the login screen, her account is default selected and is the only one showing on the screen!. If I want to login, I have to login as her, logout, then I am able to see my account to click on it at the login screen.
Help!

Hmm, thats an interesting one.
First, i would go into computer management and ensure everything is normal in the local users and groups section .
then i would fiddle around with this reg key ..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\dontdisplaylastusername
and/or this group policy
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Interactive logon: Do not display last user name
and from an admin command prompt, type this
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
and restart.
Let us know if that sorts it0 -

I think I understand what these are meant to do. This PC isn't on a domain/is Windows 10 Home so I think the former rather than latter will apply.

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
What does this do?

This is a new feature added in the Windows 10 'Fall Creators Update'

1.Normal = users in the user group, admins in the admin group, both listed in the user folder
2.Matters not - you can use local GPO (you will need to install it first - just noticed you said home edition)
3.Resets all local security permissions to default (Something somewhere is stopping your (admin) account being displayed on the logon screen of a standard user - so this may work)
Something has got its knickers in a twist somewhere and those are the places i would start

seen this before on windows 7 or 8? and to get around one account you press ctrl-alt-del three times and that showed more users.
then there is this which is different than above

It's not that. My problem isn't that an account is logging in automatically ... it's that after a shutdown/start from my wife's login account, the login screen isn't showing an option to select my own account for login - it defaults to hers and only shows hers. (The other way around .. it always shows both account options at the login screen).
I'll try some of the other suggestions when I get a chance.
