re PIP mobility

Just to clarify what I've heard. Is it correct the PIP assessors can now once again take into account mental-health related conditions for considering the mobility component?

But will this have any benefit for those who have already received an award? I got an award for standard but no mobility (because it was mental-health related and not phyiscal-related) and the timeframe to appeal has passed?

People with mental health have had awards for the mobility part of PIP in the past, my daughter suffers with mental health and she was award Enhanced mobility (following and planning a journey) just a few months ago.

It's the Psychological Distress part of the descriptors they have changed. In my opinion it will only apply to those with extreme distress that it will apply to, others may disagree.

DWP are planning on looking at 1.6 million existing PIP awards. If you are due more money then you'll hear from DWP but this could take a very long time.
  • Hi , this is something i would like to know aswell, i was awarded standard pip but no mobility which i scored 4 points for the planning of a journey, does the new ruling mean my points will increase? Very confused.

I was awarded 10 points for mobility with mental health in December. I have Asperger's and am a danger to myself as i have been hit by many cars luckily all slow moving as when I walk to shops or somewhere local i block everything out and focus on whatever is on my mind and end up walking in wrong directions etc.

That is why I was awarded it however I see this question asked time and time again only stating they suffer from mental health but that is as wide in spectrum as there are ants in a colony.

I think it would be more useful for people who are awarded mobility to describe more what their mental health is and people asking questions be a bit more specific regarding their mental health conditions. I know people will have a dont want to discuss personal information but really the best help and advice cant be given without as much info as possible.
