Credit Rating

My Step-Daughter is taking my wife away on holiday. Neither have credit cards, so I was thinking of asking my bank to issue a credit card in my Step-Daughter's name on my credit card account. This is so that on arrival she can hire a car, plus have security of funds to fall back on in case of any financial emergency.
However would it affect my credit rating , which is faultless, by doing this,
Any help would be appreciated

You can have your step-daughter as an additional card-holder on your account - which means she will have her own card that she can use. That in itself will have no impact on your credit file.


However, you are still responsible for the account. So if she runs up massive debts, goes over-limit, has her card stolen and mis-used, whatever ... it's solely your responsibility. And you're still responsible for paying the bill each month.

You don't have a credit rating to get damaged.

You have a credit history that lenders see - and that could be marred if she runs up a large debt that you then cannot repay
