Self Employed Working Tax Credits & NI

Hi,

I am a single male and have been registered self employed for many years earning below the low income threshold each year. I also claim working tax credits for self employed. I do not have the small earnings exemption although I did have for a few years way back (I think it has now been abolished).

Can anyone tell me if I should have been recieving Class 3 NI credits from claiming working tax credits for self employed?

This link seems to suggest so:
https://revenuebenefits.org.uk/tax-credits/guidance/how-much-can-your-client-get/national-insurance-credits/

I have checked my NI record and have many "Not Full" gap years where I failed to pay voluntary class 2 contributions (I am now looking to make these up, where possible) but I am very confused as to whether I should have been recieving contributions credits each year from HMRC anyway due to the WTC element?

Thanks
