Boost button permanently on

Hi, I have a Potterton PrimaF 50F boiler in the kitchen, cylinder in the loft and a boost button on the landing
We have only recently moved in - a month or so ago. Originally, if I pressed the boost button it would be on for a while - an hour maybe - then the boost light would go off
Now the boost light is on all the time and I worry this will either be very expensive - permanently boosting the hot water - or it could damage the system. My old house had a combi boiler so I am a bit confused by this system
I would be grateful for any advice

These buttons are generally for the immersion heater and not to run the gas boiler. It won't damage the system as the water heat is thermostatically controlled but it will be expensive. You need to get it sorted and get the timer for the boiler to heat enough water and use the boost on the boiler timer.0

OK thanks for that. Does it sound like I need the button replaced? Is there anything I can do to reset it or anything do you think?0

What type of boost button is it? It most likely will have some form of control (pcb or similar) to make the boost stay on for a time) and that could have failed particularly if it is a mechanical device. You really need to determine what the boost button does - does it keep the boiler firing or does it switch on the immersion heater as suggested above?0
