Is this a fair quote for boiler replacement

Hi

In need of some independent advice.

Location Leeds.

Quote 1:

boiler installation in the loft.
Conversion to combi system.

Fitting
Duo Tec 33KW - £2,770 (7 YEAR warranty)
Platinum 33KW - £2,900 (10 YEAR warranty)

Quote 2:

Converting combi system
wireless room stats
Baxi 630
£2,150

Can only assume hes not VAT register whereas the first one is.

is these 2 a fair price for the model and work involved?

Cost included removing existing boiler but no new radiators.

Thanks

Check whether each quote is incl or excl VAT as they are often quoted excl VAT which is then added on.

You say you are converting to combi so it there a HW tank and loft tanks to be removed?

Compare like with like, are they both going in the loft, room stat and magaclean filter?

    copper pipes.

i will double check that, but on phone he did say fixed price.

A friend of mine has just paid £2,370 for a straight boiler change with stat in same location in South East.

So your lower quote sound good value since working in the loft, extra pipework and removing cylinder are all extra. Are they both Gas Safe registered?

I would fit a Magnaclean, you will be surprised at the gunk they fill up with.

Not much help but I just had a duotec 33 fitted - straight replacement for an old combi boiler - powerflush, magnaclean installed, couple of rads replaced - cost about £2k altogether. for what its worth I think I probably overpaid a couple of hundred but I think it’s just the nature of the trade - if you can afford it and like the fitter then it’s probably not worth getting too hung up on the exact price (within a certain margin!).

Oh and can never hurt to ask if they have can bring price in any lower and if they can offer any reduction for cash.
