Accounts still reported

I've just signed into the MSE credit club to view my credit report. I've been rebuilding my credit over the last few years and it's slowly become decent again, but when I reviewed my closed accounts which had defaulted (x2), they had continued to update the account information long after the account was settled. For example, Vanquis was settled 30.6.14 but was continued to be updated as 'default - credit agreement ended' until 16.10.16. I don't know if this is going to affect when they actually drop off my credit report, as I had assumed they would drop off from when i first defaulted?

I just don't know whether to contact the two lenders to try and get it removed if they shouldn't have continued to report the status of the closed account?

Thank you
