PLEASE HELP I'm so confused with my Credit Report

Hello all hope your well.

First of all, id like to say sorry if I'm in the wrong forum, if so please direct me in the direction. as you might of guessed I'm new to all this, as in the forum stuff and dealing with past finances. I lost my confidents many years ago when i got hounded for an old mortgage issue in the USA, this resulted in a huge loss of property and money but most of all it unfortunately triggered off with me falling in to a very bad state of depression and stress, i was omitted to hospital in 2013 and given 48 hours to live due to the depression etc causing me to have blood clots etc etc, yes thats right i fought it and I'm still here. So in the past few years I've kept my head buried in the sand.. sorry to carry on with myself.
so any rate I'm 42 years of age and have had loans, cards, bank accounts and a number of mortgages since i was 17 / 18, and I'm interested to find out if i have any PPI due to me.! I took MSE advise and joined up to the Credit Club to view my credit report, so i could drag the relative details i need from it, but it seems I've hit another stumbling block! or have I? i don't understand why there is hardly any information showing up! or doesn't this kind of report show that.
PLEASE CAN SOME ONE HELP ME OR POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. Im getting all stressed up again and i only want to check to see if I'm due any good news.
Thank you in advance x

Your credit files will only show accounts from the last 6 years. You will need to check all three for the full picture.

None of your files will tell you if you had PPI. If you think you did, you need to send your complaint reasons to the lender.
  • thank you for getting in touch, but to be honest thats my problem I'm unaware who the companies were, is there a way of telling who and when these lenders were on my report so i can finally get the ball rolling.
    thank you again

Can you remeber any of the lenders ?

Look through your bank account statements ? See if your bank can provide any statements you cant get online.
  • hi guys sorry for delay with my reply.this is great information so far, im going to start turning the office up side down. can i just confirm, is it any agreements ive had for example for sofas bank loans etc etc etc. and do i look back as far as i can or is there a cut off date ? i do remember a couple of credit cards i had, it was that funny shaped one called mint, i think plus a goldfish card, i think it might be easier to list the ones i haven't had lol. oh before you get bored, what exactly am i looking for? is it just the name of the company plus account number or is there more? sorry to be a pain guys, but this is really helping me start to sort this out.
    thanks again

Yes. However loans for things like sofas will be with a bank, not the retailer, so for example SCS use Barclays Partner Financing so the agreement for a sofa with SCS will be from Barclays.
and do i look back as far as i can or is there a cut off date ?
6 years. In the UK we have something called the Statute of Limitations which means that almost everything "disappears" after 6 years. In the case of almost everything financial it means that they drop off your credit record 6 years after a judgement, the last entry by the creditor or the last date of acknowledgment of a debt. Basically any debt over 6 years old you've not acknowledged you can effectively forget about.
