Will set Feb as full month :money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -
When most of want to cut down or give up the booze , we seem to be badgered by our pals to just have one ,,,, as if they can’t accept our will power .
Now with Dry Jan it is more acceptable to give up for 31 days after the festive season , but at any other time if we choose to not drink everyone thinks we are missing out or mad not to drink ,,,, we are of course not either , we are wise ones !!
So my question is ,, do you just say you have chosen not to drink,,, or say a little white lie to ge5 them off your back ,,,, I’m on antibiotics!!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -
Loveasale I say I'm off the booze at the moment, not all of my friends drink so it's pretty much accepted. I do have one friend however who thinks it's weird, unless I say I'm trying to lose weight which she seems to accept!Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.0

Well done barny:T25/25 AFDs, target reached
If it saved hassle then a white lie is fine. You could say you felt so much better with Dry January you decided to carry on. If you don't explain, they might think you are pregnant! :eek:When most of want to cut down or give up the booze , we seem to be badgered by our pals to just have one ,,,, as if they can’t accept our will power .

It’s a Saturday morning and I’ve woken up with a clear head!,,,, ,,,, YAY,,,,,,,!
After work I popped into town last night ,,, normally can’t wait to get home and open the vino,,,, I got a real bargain , a coat I’d wanted before Xmas ( couldn’t afford and was too much money to ask anyone for it as a gift ) only one , in my size ,,, I couldn’t believe my luck , and it was 70% off ,
I felt slightly guilty when I got home ( as a good MSE ) then worked out ,, had I’d drank all week ( very normal for me to do so ) I’d have spent MORE on wine ,,, so new coat is my tipple this week ,,, it will last longer and not give me a fuzzy head !!
This week I might put my wine money in my sealed pot ( I’ve always got a few on the go ,,,£1 coins £2 coins and 50 p ) well maybe half ,, it’s amazing how we manage to FIND booze money , I was the same when I smoked !!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -
I caved last night. Had a bottle of prosecco and half a bottle of white.
How do I feel about it? I'm a little annoyed at myself about the whole Dry January thing, but not overly so. I have surpassed what I thought I would.
Initially I was scared that it would be the start of a slippery slope for me, but I am still with the thought that I won't drink as much. We will see if that lasts long. At the moment, I'm not planning on drinking tonight. My daughter is going to a sleepover and just in case she gets upset and wants to come home, I want to be able to collect her. It's her dad's weekend, but I live closer to the friend.
Why did I do it last night? I'm not sure. My girls went to their dads and I sat there for ages with a cup of tea. Then I had my dinner.... then I had my pudding. I kept putting off the opening by saying if I still feel like it after... then sod it, I would just have it.
And I must admit the prosecco didn't taste as great as I thought it would. Still managed to drink the whole damn thing though.
I feel fine, although just planning a lazy day, but I seemed to still do that when off the booze.
I will stick to my not drinking during the week, but hopefully throw in the odd non Friday and Saturday alcohol free day too.
So I am up to 24/16 for this month, I completed 5/5 for the SNC and 0/2 for the weekend challenge. Oh, and up to 24/183 for the year.
My target for February? There are 20 days Sunday to Thursdays, but going on my 50% target, I will go for 14.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.810 -
Pollyanna , I’m so like you , couldn’t just have a glass or 2 ,,, the whole bottle , and some ,,, but what have you done with the half bottle of wine remaining? I would be straight on it later if I had it in my house , so if you can stop yourself you have very good will power !!:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0
