How do i get a copy of my divorce certificate?

So I need to get hold of my divorce certificate ASAP! The divorce was carried out in 1986, so we are talking over 30 years ago now.
I know that I can send off a form with a fee, however I wondered if there was an easier and faster way for me to get hold of it?
does anyone know if I could obtain it by physically going down to the court who issued it in person and locate a copy on the same day?
if so what would the fees and process be?
BTW I know the name of the court, but do NOT have the case number.
thank you in advance!!!!

I went to the court where mine was issued.
I 'thought' I had a version, only when I was giving final details to the registrar for my 2nd marriage, did I realise the copy I had wasn't a 'final' copy and not stamped etc....
I quickly drove over, didn't have an appointment and was given a copy pretty quick - I already had other documents on me from being at the registrars.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

1986 was before the courts had any type of computerisation so they will have to locate your case number manually.
I know that they used to have card indexes which allowed them to do so but they might not still have them.
I would still phone them though just in case (there is probably a fee for them to do the search).
They probably won't be able to do you a copy Decree Absolute there and then though as they're unlikely to still have the file to get the details from (they will have to contact the Central Family Court to get the info).0
