Hi,
We have a second hand Android mobile device.
When downloading photos taken with it we've noticed they save on the PC with an odd looking file extension:
It looks like "someone's name".jpg, so
IMG_20180130_12345_[Weird name].jpg.
Is this something the original owner set up in some way and how could we remove it so we just have the normal ".jpg." file extension?
Many thanks in advance.

not sure. phone should have been factory reset before you started using it. my android photos naming format is date + 6 fig number. i didn't think you could change the format? are you using a third party photo app?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure a factory reset was done as there were still photos belonging to the owner on it, which I've since deleted.
It's a Xiaomi Chinese Android phone. I'm just using the ordinary camera on the phone itself - no app that I'm aware of.
I had some photos sent to me from a trip and noticed they had a strange extension also so I think there must be a way to add this in somehow, but I'd like to remove/disable it for my photos if there is a way to do so.0
