car insurance question

hello,
i'm a university student wanting to purchase my first car, and I am currently looking at insurance quotes. What surprises me is that no one seems to want to insure me at my term time address or refusing me to pay monthly or giving me ridiculously expensive quotes of 5/6/7k, compared to my home address where my quotes are really cheap at 2k or less and those refusing me to pay monthly now are giving me monthly pay quotes.
Now I've posted here before on a similar thread and it turns out that it seems that I failed a credit check when I put my term time address. Is that the reason or is it that my term address is at a higher risk? I find it odd because my home address is in London. What can I do in this situation? should I put my home address on my insurance?
thank you for your help.
