Car insurance question

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can help answer my questions.

So my husband has recently passed his driving test (nov 17) and has just bought his first car. We have been searching insurance quotes to find the cheapest best deal. However the cheapest we’ve found is £1820 with a black box and limited mileage. My husbands 23yrs and I am 31yrs and been driving 12 years this year with 12 yrs no claims.

So my question is, is it legal for me to take out an insurance policy in my name on my husbands car and add him as named driver and main driver? By doing this it cuts the price to under £1000.

Also if he needed to claim (if this is legal) do I lose my 12 yrs no claims? I also own and drive my own vehicle which I insure myself as named driver and main user.

I'd suggest you make sure your insurer knows the car is registered in his name, or you be the owner/registered keeper.
Remember you can't use your NCB on the second policy, unless the company is mirroring your NCB.
If he has an accident, you would have to declare a claim.
