when you find yourself in the "gaps in the system" it's really hard to reverse it.

I am surprised OP didn't fix all these loose ends before leaving.

The problem is with the law itself, the water company needs to supply the house no matter what. So water company is reluctant to remove a name off their billing without getting a replacement name added on.

otherwise they expose themselves to situation where they have removed a payee for an address but nobody is coming forward to claim that said bill.

Have experienced this before. You need to clear this up with the next person moving in. When we sold our house we got them to sign the water forms and took a photo of it and made them send us a a proof of postage. For their trouble we were happy to give them a months water for free and set the transition date a month after they moved in.

An update for you guys.

Welsh Water have now removed my CCJ as I gave them proof of my new address and they were my water suppliers at that said address. Complete aresholes though.

Knocked 200 points off my credit file and now its been removed its gone up 3!!!! This is so wrong.

Just to add, I didn't pay anything to get it set aside, I provided my new address and explained that i gave them my old address at the time. I then told them I was talking to my Solicitor, which I then got a call from them explaining that they had looked into it.
