Car insurance quotes confusion....

My car insurance was due for renewal last October and the cheapest I got was with direct line for just over £900. It was a lot higher than usual but had to choice.
So fast forward today and I’ve just done some quotes as I’ll be adding a named driver in a few months and it’s now giving back quotes for £420!! Bloody half than what I’m paying!
The only thing that’s changed since October was I was finally added to electoral register in December. Could this be pushing down the price. Is there anything I can do?
TIA

Going on the electoral register may have an impact.
Adding a named driver will too.
You will be slightly older, car will be older, all of these things will make a small difference.
You can cancel your current insurance and get a refund and then take out a new policy. Keep an eye on no claims bonus.0 -
As above, you can cancel the policy and take out a new one, but you won't earn any no claims for the period from October to now.0

Did you pay monthly or annually?
If monthly, note that you may have to pay interest on the remaining months of the policy as you've received a loan from your insurer. Whether annually or monthly, factor in the cancellation charge and any administration charges before deciding whether to cancel.
Note that this only applies if you've been claim free since October.0
