Wrong car info on database
Hi there. I have a Range Rover Evoque that when any search for insurance it says the car is Manual but in fact it is a Automatic car and has always been that way.
I am in the procces of a trade in and the Equifax database throws it up as manual. I have been in touch with them and they are changing it to Auto but they said there are many databases that are used to check cars, theirs mainly deals with finance but not insurance.
I was warned that if I did have an accident the insurers may say that the insurance is void because of wrong car details.
Is this true????

It isn't true. You'll have no doubt told your insurers it was an automatic. Many people modify cars from their manufactured specification and as long as the specification of the vehicle is declared to the insurer you're covered no matter what any database says.0

First thing to do is check the vin on the car against the v5. It is not unheard of for dealers to pull the wrong papers out of the draw when registering cars. Blue car becomes green or auto becomes manual as examples. Give away would be the vin number being slightly out.0

Glad I found this post before writing a new one...
I!!!8217;m in the process of buying a used car which is a manual 180bhp car. V5 and just about every database I!!!8217;ve been on thinks it!!!8217;s a 210bhp automatic!
The main dealer have assured me that they will get onto the V5 issue but the salesman didn!!!8217;t seem to know whether the databases will be automatically updated as a result.
Trying to get my current insurer to quote the change of vehicle was a pain just now!!!0 -
Did you have any joy changing the databases Bigmal?0

Bigmal logged off as soon as they posted their last message in January and haven't been back since.0
