Hi,
I have a query regarding my tax code and I want to get in contact with HMRC. However on their website I don't see an email address anywhere; only phone numbers (always engaged), webchat advisors (always busy) and a postal address. I don't see an email address anywhere.
Does anyone know if they do actually have an email address that they can be contacted on? Or do I have to go back in time and find an envelope and stamp?
Many thanks
Mike

No you can’t email. You’d be better waiting a week or two, it’s the self assessment deadline this week so will be busier than normal.
Have you tried using your personal tax account? What is it you need to query? Someone on here could potentially help.0 -

Thanks, posting it is then ;(
In regard to your question, my query is why my tax code changed 3 months ago; it went from 785L to K240, which resulted in my income tax increasing by hundreds of pounds. As a result my net income is now the lowest it's been in years which, as you can imagine, is playing havoc with my budgeting. I suspect this was because I was dealing with the tax office at the time in regard for money I owed them for child income support (I had exceeded the upper limit a couple of years previously but didn't know. I had to pay some of it back. I paid the money I owed them and the fines and assumed that was it). I am wondering if they are taking back this financial years child benefit through PAYE.0 -
Have you never received a coding notice?0

I can't remember, I was receiving so much post from them to sort out the arrears I had to pay, I'll have a dig around when I get back home.
Thanks for your help0 -
Looking for some information
Hi new to this so not sure if posting in the right place.!
Just looking for some information if any one can help.!
Me and my boyfriend of nearly 9 years split up 6 months ago we gave up our family home me and my 2 children moved back with my parents and ex partner stayed at friends untill he found a place of his own where he lives now. While being separated we both dated other people but realised we still had feelings for each other even tho the relationship died a long time ago while we where together.!
Long story short while seperated I had to claim as a single parent, ex partner works. Last week we decided we we would like to try and work things out but as I had to move the children schools and they have just started getting used to the idea that we don't all live together and don't want to unsettle them again for us to work out then 4 months down the line the relationship doesn't work out so I don't want to jump back into moving in with him just yet as I don't know weather we were getting on good as to not being together or weather we are ment to be. I informed income support the day we said we would like to try and work things out and explained the above and sent the forms back off. Just not sure what happens now and the rules. As I was claiming as a single person but now I'm trying to work things out with my children's father so I'm not single anymore but won't be living with him any one know what happens next will i get some kind of help with money while I'm looking for work as he doesn't finacialy support us yet as he has his own life to keep paying for and of course I still have to pay for mine. I have told him that he is to still pay child support as we are not sure if things are going to work and don't want to complicate things even more if he we decide after a few months we were happier apart.
Thank you in advance I do have a meeting with my advisor Friday so will ask her to help me as I was new to benefits and not really sure what happens now0 -

As you were a couple and are now "trying to work it out and start again" you're classed as a couple and he should support you and your children. Anything you claim, you'll have to claim as a couple.0 -
HMRC (and banks, etc) usually won't accept any personal correspondence by email as email is inherently insecure and can be intercepted or spoofed.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

They are quite easy to contact by phone on Saturdays. I have rung a few times over recent years and never had to wait long; sometimes no wait at all.0

Sorry first time to post not sure what I'm doing.
By trying to make things work and start again the only time we will be seeing each other will be for a few hours 1 day a week at the moment as don't want to mess with children's heads, hes going to continue to pick children up twice a week and everything else is going to remain as we are now only thing that will be changing is that me and him get to spend a day with each other. As neither of us are willing to commit to anything long term. Just got used to be on my own as realy didnt think i would ever want to work things out with him so was/iam focusing on getting back to work as youngest is now 1 years and finding a place for me and the children so I can show I can be independent and ain't got to rely on any one else.
Thank you for the information sounds like we are going to be pressured into living back together before were ready0 -
Thank you thought it would have to and every thing as been reported just waiting to hear back from them.
Do you now if there's any additional help I could receive while still living with my parents? As we are not wanting any thing serious with each other at the moment as we have alot to try and over come before we do broadcast that we our officially back together.
Sorry for so many questions0
