  • I resisted the urge to order a dominios pizza. Instead I got a tesco value one out of my freezer and loaded it with all my favourite toppings. Was really nice and cost about 10% of a takeaway one.

Hurrah for this thread! It's so heart warming.

    OK I have:

    * Had a lift to & from work - saved bus fare

    * Took HM lunch to work and resisted crisps & chocolate from the shop when I bought a job paper. Work is really pants at the moment and I wanted comfort food (haven't had any for weeks) but I resisted!

    * Have got a load of washing dry on the line & I am doing an economy load for the line now too.

    * Piggy Comps & QuidCo searches.

    * Used some 'points' I has collected with mophair.com and got a 200ml conditioner for £2.99! (MOP products are superb!)

    * Emailed for a job application pack instead of phoning.

    * Used work plug to charge phone up... :D *Oooh theft!*

  • I walked to school and back twice today even though it was freezing, to save petrol.

I used a forgotten £2.00 walkers crisps voucher that I found in my purse to treat H to some "proper" crisps!

I had my meeting with the Avon Rep and I am now officially an "Avon Lady", I shall start delivering my books tomorrow :)

Not a bad day really! :)

busy day for me 'cos i decided to sort out the dreaded "insurances". I do this once a year to see if i can get either better deals or cheaper packages. This was prompted by me getting a renewal today for one of them thats 50% higher than last year, they are blaming all the flood claims !!

    anyway,

amalgamated three separate life insurances into one, monthly DD cost is roughly the same, but cover is better.

canceled SKY TV to the horror of the kids, but the pure satisfaction i got from finally getting shut of the worst ever customer service in the history of man, even beating BT which takes some doing was worth it.
    saved £40 a month there.
HAve a HUMAX PVR so dont lose any of the sky plus facilities on freeview , just sky channels, no real loss.

Cancelled the wifes mobile contract as the cashback isnt coming in from the company that is meant to make it a free contract via cashbacks, so all the horror stories there seem true. But thats £35 a month better off.

and worked from home today so no costa coffees or garage chocolates.

    feel quite proud

  • Wow I love this thread, it's so inspiring!!

Made a menu plan for next week to avoid overspending on shopping tomorrow
Posted a thread on MSE to ask for advice
Checked Topcashback for cashback not received and will cancel insurance tomorrow and give it another go

Ooops, made OH mad now as I've spent the past couple of hours on MSE when I said I was sending one e-mail!

    If you discount the massive credit card expenditure on the new kitchen being fitted and the boiler being replaced, my saving achievement of the day is this;

Due to the boiler being removed and currently sitting in the back garden, and new one still to be fitted, i stopped at a farm shop on the way home to get some logs. They didn't have any so i was about to leave empty handed when a bloke stopped me and asked how many i wanted. Turns out he runs a landscaping business and can supply me with a builder's bag (the kind of thing they supply sand in) of hardwood logs for £30. Seeing as a small bag can cost about £5, that's a bonus, plus they will be delivered to the house for me. So assuming he does actually deliver them, that'll be a massive saving for hopefully the rest of winter.

PS; if you are wondering, i didn't pay some bloke £30 in a car park on the promise of some logs that 'may' be delivered.....

Plus i did my clicks etc.

Walked into town instead of driving and only spent money on the bills that needed paying, no treats.

I sorted out my car insurance - what a palava (sp?) why don't insurance companies give you the no claims discount for as long as you've been with them? Gave me another phone call to make once i'd finally found the paperwork.
Called old insurance company and cancelled the renewal.
Was not persuaded by lady in wedding dress shop to buy a dress i wasn't 100% sure about - not even 50% if truth be told!
Still have to make OH as birthday card to take with me tomorrow though.
Cooked tea from the cupboards rather than buying something cos it was quick and i was starving.
