Just goes to show, different strokes for different folks; I think it's hideous :o

Couldnt agree more. If that were my house the 1st things I would want to do is rip out the kitchen and bathroom.
    Loather dormers.
And as for living next to a school. *shudder*

Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

Kitchen yes ....but we will live with it for a bit.

Bathroom is basic and seem ok to us...it opens in to walk in loft storage.

My garden backs onto a primary school playground and I like hearing the kids playing.
They are only there weekdays and only 38 weeks of the year. Two, 10 min breaks and half an hour at lunch time is no big deal. My concern would be if the parents park down your road and make the area a no go at school times? But on the other hand it’s so nice to be able to walk the kids to school.
  • I can't believe the contrast in two house in our shortlist....one shares the back boundary with graveyard the other with a school.

  • After a little bit of negotiation...we have a deal at asking price with a few household items thrown in.

I get that...it is not on the path of school run ...but backs on to school. I have been there at different times of the day and didn't see any issue at all.

It will actually be really convenient walking the twins to school.

Being close to a well-regarded primary school is always a selling point for a family house, especially if not right in the firing line for school-run parking lotto.

In other words you are paying £15,000 for their curtains.

I know Elland and think it's a bit steep. It's cheeky calling it a house when it's a dormer bungalow.
